Sydney & Little Man
Virginia Equine Photographer

Sydney and Little Man were my very last Virginia equestrian portrait session before I moved to Washington state! Their session was so much fun, especially since they have such a sweet, one-of-a-kind bond. I love how much fun they have together whether it’s trail riding, hanging out around the barn or relaxing after a ride under their favorite tree with a tire swing. Sydney’s session had exactly what I love to capture in all of my equestrian sessions, the irreplaceable bond between horse and rider.

This session was actually a Christmas present for Sydney that her mom got her. When I found out I was moving across the country we needed to schedule her session a little sooner than planned but everything worked out perfectly. Receiving the gift of an equestrian portrait session is something every rider will cherish for a lifetime.

Sydney got into riding because of her mom, who rode dressage growing up and into her adult life. Although Sydney shares the same love of horses that her mom has, she had her own ideas when it came to which discipline she was going to ride. She took up western and eventually her mom joined her so they could trail ride together. What an awesome thing to share as mother and daughter! I’m sure they have created memories together that will last a lifetime. They are truly blessed to be able to share such a special sport together.

Even though the weather was looking iffy with a slight chance of thunderstorms in the forecast, we ended up with a perfect evening for pictures around the farm where they board in Chesapeake, VA. The field full of buttercups made a great backdrop for pictures. We ended the session on a hill Sydney and Little Man love to climb and the sun was setting at the same time. It made the perfect scenario for some silhouettes. Here are some of my favorites from Sydney’s Virginia equestrian portrait session.

This is their favorite spot to hang out. Little Man grazes while Sydney relaxes on the tire swing.

How awesome is that tree?

There is something so special about a horse you can just hop on bareback and trust with all your heart.
